Up until recently there were no stable poker apps for real money. That was due to the limitations of smart phones and tablets, as well as the lack of adequate Wi-Fi and 3G coverage.

This is no longer the case. Modern mobile devices like Android Phones, Tablets, iPads & iPhones have everything that is needed to play texas holdem through them. The big, multi-touch screens are ideal for playing poker.

There are certain limitations on poker for smartphone or tablets. The biggest con is that multi-tabling is not as convenient as on a big monitor. (Playing even 3+ tables could be quite hard on a 4 inch device, not to mention 6+ like most people are used to playing on desktop). But every problem has its solution.

Fast-Fold Poker

Zoom, Rush, Blaze, Speed – name it however you want. This is the solution to the multi-tabling problem on mobile devices. The concept behind all these variants is that player is never seated at just one table.  Instead of that players join a pool with hundreds of other players. When they fold their hand, they are immediately transferred to a new table and dealt a new hand. This drastically increases the number of hands played per hour.

Multi-Table Tournaments

This was one of the main features that was missing up until recently within mobile poker sites. However PokerStars have  finally brought MTTs to mobile devices. Now you can win thousands, and perhaps  even millions of dollars from your smart device.

So why are there so few Mobile Poker Rooms listed?

Well the reason is, we are only listing rooms that are MOBILE. Neither android only, nor iOS only.

Most poker sites fail to achieve this. They are too lazy to get an app for the App Store, mainly because it has to be of very good quality to pass Apple’s strict verification. It is easy to make an android poker app, because players can download and install the app without going to the Play Store. No verifications, no quality assurance, nothing.

You may ask yourself, why don’t poker operators just create a web version of their product like casinos, bingo operators & bookies have done?
Well online poker was never meant to be played in-browser. Even the first online poker operator for real money “Planet Poker” used software that had to be downloaded. It is understandable, because a standalone app is more stable. This is needed to ensure a bug-free, quick & safe real-time connection between the poker operator and the poker players.

Only one poker site has done this properly and this is mFortune Poker. They have an extremely stable & light web based Texas Holdem client for iOS and a download-able app for Android. But they did not stop there, as they are providing support for many other devices such as BlackBerry’s, Nokia Symbian Phones and other smart phones.

This list of reviewed mobile poker rooms is by no means exhaustive and will continue to be updated once new poker apps emerge and fulfill our criteria.
