Top 2025 Mobile Devices for Gambling
The year 2025 is coming to an end. It was a great year, both for the smartphone and tablet industry as well as mobile gambling.
With enhanced software and hardware capabilities, gambling on new and recently introduced devices has been a much more pleasant experience. Christmas and New Years are knocking on the door. If you are going to give a present to someone, gather some ideas for gadgets here.
I have categorized the devices by their operating systems.
Apple iOS
iPhone 5
Introduced back in March, the new iPhone 5 has not produced many new features, this according to some reviewers and users.
However, in my opinion, there is something new and important for those interested in using it for gambling. A bigger screen is always better for mobile gambling. I know that 0.5″ doesn’t sound like much, but believe me, it's a lot when it comes to screen real estate.
Other improvements include a lower weight, a faster A6 Dual-Core processor, new iOS 6, and a better camera. The price tag can be a bit high depending on your country, so you could look for Android alternatives below. They offer the same or better usability for less money.
iPad Mini
Some of you may be wondering why I chose an iPad Mini instead of the full-sized iPad 4. Well, it's all about the money. The iPad mini could easily be found for $200 cheaper than its bigger brother.
By taking advantage of the savings in money, be aware that you are giving up the larger “Retina” screen, faster processor, more memory, and a better camera. I will leave it up to you to decide if these improvements are worth the additional $200 investment, but before you decide, keep in mind that the iPad Mini packs some serious horse power. The 7.9″ screen, Dual-core 1 GHz A5 processor, 512MB Ram, and PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU are more than enough to satisfy your gambling needs. All apps that were made for the regular iPad will work exactly the same on the iPad Mini.
In my opinion the smaller screen is a plus. When you go above the level of 7-8 inch screens, the tablet is entering a completely different market. It becomes way too big and heavy to carry around everywhere.
Android
This is where the average consumer gets lost in the hundreds of models Android has to offer. Despite the fact that I am a Samsung Galaxy S3 owner, I would advise you to get another device.
LG Nexus 4
When a phone contains the name Nexus, it means that the phone's specifications and frequency of software updates are determined by Google. The Nexus 4 was announced in March and immediately became available in most parts of the world.
History shows me that Nexus devices will last two years with on time software updates. This is something that other device manufacturers are not willing to do. They have zero interest in reinvesting in their devices or updating them, as they manufacture hardware, not software such as Google does.
So after having the software part covered, let's talk a bit about hardware. This is one of the current super-phones. It packs a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor, 2GB Ram, Adreno 320 GPU, 4.7″ screen, and an 8MP camera.
This device is a beast, and it is fully capable of running every single casino, sports betting, bingo, or poker app that you can throw at it. The best part is the price. For just $349, you can buy the 16GB version directly from Google. This is a lot cheaper than the iOS alternative.
Google Nexus 7
The 7 inch Nexus tablet by Google is certainly a bargain. For $249, you can buy a 32GB version directly from Google.
It is powered by a Tegra 3 1.2GHz Quad-Core processor and 1GB of RAM. The camera is only 1.2 MP, but this is not a problem for gambling apps.
A tablet for this amount of money and with guaranteed updates from the OS maker makes it a zero competition device (that is of course, if Android is your thing). Some aren’t happy with Android (I am not) and may be looking into something new and different.
Windows Phone 8/Windows 8 RT
This is the something new and different that I had in mind. The latest update of Windows Phone has just been introduced alongside with Microsoft's other matching products – Windows 8 and Windows 8 RT.
Nokia Lumia 920
If you are looking for the best Windows Phone device, then look no further.
“Unfortunately”, the Lumia 920 can not impress you with tetra, quad, 6-core, or 8-core processors. It only has a Dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and 1GB of RAM, but the OS that it's running doesn’t require faster specs. Even with these hardware specs, it can blow away every other Smartphone out there. I am not talking about stupid benchmarks and numbers; I mean real-life usage.
Furthermore, the device has the best camera of any Smartphone on the market (except for Pureview 808, but that is more of a camera phone). The Lumia 920 PureView camera has an 8.7 MP sensor, mechanical optical image stabilizer, Carl Zeiss optics, and a special sensor that makes night shots brighter. Another interesting feature is wireless charging, which I find very useful.
But enough technical chit chat. Let's get into gambling. Gambling sites that have a mobile optimized site, all run without a problem on a Windows Phone; however, native apps are still not available. There are no limitations to them being available, except for the low amount of users.
Surface RT
Well, this is a device in a league of its own. The Surface RT by Microsoft is running the Windows 8 RT version, a version that was made to run properly on mobile processors (ARM) instead of on Intel. This provides a better battery life, along with lower weight and heat output.
Despite these improved attributes, there are some disadvantages as well. The Windows RT doesn’t support all desktop apps, so only apps from Windows Market can be installed. However, the Surface RT does much more than a tablet. By combining it with the touch cover keyboard, you have a very, very, powerful netbook at your disposal.
As far as “mobile gambling” goes, it is not so mobile anymore as the Internet Explorer in Surface supports Adobe Flash. This means that every single online casino that has a web version could be played from the Surface RT, and you can even use your fingers to do so.
The price of $500 is similar to the rival from Apple – the iPad 4. However, as you may have noticed, I think the Surface RT is a much more capable device compared to the iPad.
